deadline #7, Point of View

Some people are strongly in favor of the proposition that public schools should require students to wear uniforms. In today's world, we are subjected to many prejudices, some of which stem from the type of clothes we wear. If all students wore uniforms, at least one source of prejudice might be eliminated in schools because no one would be wearing expensive designer clothes while others wore second hand clothes that went out of style a decade ago. No one would be able to discern your economic status by the clothes you wore. Another reason some favor required uniforms for public school students to increase students' safety at school. Today, it can be dangerous to wear the wrong colors or accessories such as bandannas. Gang members often take offense at an innocent and unsuspecting student's clothing. There have been some cases in which students who wore the wrong clothing were injured or killed because of their choice of attire. Also, we should consider supporting mandatory uniforms in public schools so students will not have to make frantic last minute choices when getting dressed for school. Neither would there be such pressure to "fit in" as far as clothing was concerned. Students would know exactly what they would wear on any given day, and they would know without a doubt that they would look like they "belonged." If you think about it, requiring students to wear a school uniform would solve many problems we face concerning what to wear to school.

Deadline #6 Final Copy

The moment I knew I was going to be in the jewelry business for life was the first time I saw a wedding proposal happen in my store, the moment was breath taking. I had gotten the job at Kay Jewelers as a get me through college job afterwards I’ll do something else. Then the most romantic and exciting thing happened. I helped a gentleman purpose to his girlfriend right there in my store. The moment was the turning point and made me realize I wanted to do this for life.
This gentleman had been coming into the store for several weeks looking at engagement rings but like most college students he could not afford very much. We got him set up with a starter account and tried to find the perfect ring. He came in and just could not put his finger on which one he thought she would like. He was caught between two completely different rings. One was white gold princess cut with rounds accent diamonds the other was a yellow gold round solitaire. I told him to bring her in to look around at other items and I would get her to the bridal counter and get down to which one she wanted. The next day he brought her in and when I first saw them I had a feeling that something special was going to happen. She looked around for about ten minutes and then I got her to the bridal counter and started to show her rings. The first ring she picked out to try on was the white gold princess cut with round accent diamonds, I smiled and so did he. She said it was the perfect ring and when she tried it on it fit perfectly she giggled. She then walked over and was looking at the diamond pendants when he slipped me a note saying “Please save that ring we will be back in twenty minutes and I am going to purpose right now.” I smiled and nodded as they walked out of the store.
The twenty minutes went by as if time had stopped. I got everything together that he would need so that he could do the proposal and then leave. I printed all the paperwork and got everything ready to walk out the door but time just seemed to go on forever. I could not help but keep looking out the door waiting impatiently for them to come back but then I saw them down the way. I got so excited that I smiled thee biggest smile and got goose bumps as they walked back into my store. I knew this was going to be a moment that not only they would not forget but I would not either. As they walked in she went to look at the diamond pendants again he walked over and I handed him the ring without her seeing. He slowly walked up to her with an enormous smile on his face got down on one knee and said “I love you with all my heart and want you to be mine forever will you marry me?” I started to cry it was the sweetest thing I have ever witnessed. She of course said “YES” as she started to cry and hugged him.
I thought that that would be then end of my relationship with this couple besides the every now and then chance they came in to buy jewelry, but it was not. Several months later I received an invention to their wedding. I was moved by this gesture, to know that I had touched their lives so much. The couple, their families, and friends will no longer go to anyone else for their jewelry. I moved down to Tempe from Flagstaff two months after they were married. They drive 200 miles to Tempe to purchase their jewelry from me. After see this spectacular event happen and being apart of it and seeing that I can touch people I am stay in the jewelry business for the rest of my life.
